U9s Roundup 3 – Hard Fought Effort Against Strong Opposition!

The U9’s fixture at home to Cublington on Sunday 16th June saw a welcome change in weather, as the game was played in bright sunshine at Church Meadow. However, the match wasn’t quite so bright as a very strong Cublington team overcame a young U9 team with ease.

Batting first Thame struggled throughout against consistently accurate and fast bowling. Some hard fought resistance came from Max W, Jack and Joah in particular, enabling Thame to reach 221.

However, this never looked enough as Cublington found the boundary with ease and amassed a net score of 360. At times the better the bowling, the further the ball was hit, but Max K and Luke bowled very impressively and the whole team stuck to their task and kept their heads up really well. Despite a huge loss, the game ended with a magical moment as Luke managed to take a stunning 1 handed, diving catch on the boundary to the astonishment of the watching spectators and players. A nice way to end a difficult match.
