Sunday 14th May 2023 – U11s Oxfordshire league matches against Kidlington and Aston Rowant
The U11s 8-a-side team travelled to Kidlington at the weekend and were made welcome by the hosts. The Thame team, who are predominantly Year 5 and in their first year of hard ball league matches, did well against an experienced Year 6 opposition. Thame took 4 wickets, of which 3 were brilliantly executed run outs, and they fielded well as a team by backing each other up at the stumps and in the field.
But Kidlington batted well and accumulated a good score, whilst some of our bowling was less accurate, which meant that we conceded a lot of extras. Thame batted well against a very good bowling attack and only conceded 2 wickets.
All the players contributed and supported each other whilst having fun in the sun. Next Sunday we travel to Wolvercote
The U11s 11-aside team played at home to Aston Rowant on Sunday. TTCC bowled first and there was an excellent opening spell from Sam Holmes, then 2 wickets for Daniel Tilley and 1 each for Joshua Lowe and Rory Eames. AR posted a strong total of 122-4 off 16 overs.
In reply TTCC started well with a quick 16 from Stanley Rice, plus Daniel Tilley retiring not out on 26. With a high run rate needed we lost regular wickets and were all out for 70. Special mention to Rory Eames for a spectacular six and Oliver Holmes for making his hard ball debut. Well done all! Next weekend we host Tiddington.
