U11s Roundup 2 – A Double Win on a Sunny Sunday!

Kidlington won the toss and sent Thame into bat. Rory E (14) and Bertie (2) got Thame off to a steady start against Kidlington’s strongest bowlers, putting on 8 for the first pair. Seb (8) and Noah (22) then put on 38 without loss for the second pair to put Thame ahead in the game at 246/4. Rory I (2) and Brody (8) consolidated the good start, before Josh (7) and Oliver (5) moved Thame’s score onto 272/7 with Peter (4) and Teddy (4) finishing the innings and setting a target of 286.

In reply, Kidlington started in similar fashion to Thame, with Bertie and Rory E keeping their opening pair quiet on 209/1. Their next pair was without loss again, but Teddy bowled a maiden and Seb only went for one wide off his over to keep the score below the required rate. Rory I and Oliver then applied the squeeze with one and three wickets respectively, and when Josh took two wickets in as many balls and Peter only conceded 2 from his second over, it looked all but certain.

Kidlington then rallied late, moving from 220 to 248 off Brody and Noah’s closing three overs, before Noah took two wickets in the final over to make sure of the 42 run win.

The first full game of the season and a great game for many who were new to hard ball cricket. Thame batted first putting on 298, with everyone contributing to the score and a great effort by all. The second innings saw a blistering spell for Charlie S, with figures of 4-7 from his two overs. Great contributions from Dylan and Ryan, both captaining the team, as well as Clement with a brilliant run out.

There were debuts from Fin, Jake, Oli, Jake, Noah & Thomas, all putting on great first time performances. Well done to everyone and look forward to seeing you next week.
