Weekly Roundup – Women’s Match Only to Survive Damp Weekend! 22/23July23

A short roundup this week after sadly another Saturday was washed out by rain across the county!

On Sunday, our Women‘s side travelled to play Falkland in the Home Counties Women’s Cricket League, with rain (of course) a potential threat. Thame won the toss and chose to field. Falkland’s openers were strong, and put on an opening stand of 147 before Mel White (2-64) got the breakthrough. Emily Green (2-62) also bagged 2 wickets, but after the foundations were laid, the runs flowed quickly. The hosts were able to post an impressive 273-4 from their 40 overs. Chasing this big target, Harshi Malan scored 69 not out, batting at 3, but struggled for partners as Thame reached 161 all out. Thame are 6th and host table-toppers Stony Stratford next Sunday.

This coming Saturday; the 1st XI host Chesham, the 2s head down the road to Chearsley, the 3s go to Garsington 2 and the 4th XI host Chearsley 2 at Lord Williams’. The forecast currently says no rain!
