U11s Roundup 7 – Friendly Win for the Young Guns of our U11s!

Sunday saw a great end of season friendly between Thame Under 11’s and Warborough & Shillingford.

Thame put out a young team of which 7 out of the 8 players were Year 5.

The game was carried out with a high degree of enthusiasm and sportsmanship with both teams showing great progress in their play over the last few months.

Thame lost the toss and were put into bat with Warborough keen to have a target to chase down. Whilst conditions were overcast, the ball refused to swing in either direction. Warborough bowled straight and we saw some very accurate displays especially from William. Thame were able to keep the scoreboard ticking over with some well run singles and a few big shots. Finn top scored with a strong 20 runs but the whole team contributed fairly evenly to an imposing total of 294 for 5.

In response, Warborough were pegged back with a very accurate display of line and length from Thame, who conceded only 7 extra’s from the whole innings, possibly a new record low for the season! Some frequent wickets kept the score dow, with a great catch from Finn and a superb run out throw from Noah. Jake R bagged two wickets for 6 runs and the restricted the visitors to just 220.

Both teams went home having learnt a lot and happy after a great demonstration of the spirit of the game.
