Thame Town Cricket Club are extremely pleased to announce that Pete Tervet has become the new Chairman.
Pete takes over from the outgoing Matt Swain, who stepped down at the start of this year. The club would again like to thank Matt for his dedication and commitment, particularly as the driving force behind the new clubhouse.
TTCC warmly welcomes Pete to the role, and look forward to his tenure. Pete had this to say:
“I am delighted and honoured to have been asked to be Chairman of Thame Town Cricket Club.
I joined Thame in 2014 when we ran 3 Saturday sides and a very busy junior section. I have since seen the club grow to 4 Saturday teams, a friendly Sunday XI, our fabulous ladies team, improvements to our playing facilities, a wonderful new clubhouse, a brand new net facility and an even busier junior section. I could go on.
As a club we have a lot for which to thank Matt, Angus, the Committee, some very dedicated coaches, ground staff, members, captains and sponsors. An enormous amount of work has been done behind the scenes over the past few years and we have a fantastic platform from which to develop further. We are extremely lucky to have such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable committee and I am looking forward to playing my part in unlocking more of the potential that we already have.
The priority must be the enjoyment of our cricket – be that playing at a high level of competitiveness, playing socially, spectating, coaching our children or anything in-between – and making sure that we are getting the most out of what our club has to offer. I will be looking to further strengthen the relationships that Matt and the Committee have established with Thame’s schools (Lord Williams Upper School in particular), Council, our sponsors, and with Oxfordshire Cricket. I am also particularly keen to ensure plenty of opportunities for junior players to progress into senior teams to maintain the high levels that we have already reached.
For those of you who know me, I shall see you as usual at training or on Saturday at the club. For those I don’t know yet, I look forward to meeting you very soon. I am very happy to receive feedback in person so please feel free to track me down if you have any ideas or would like to discuss anything.”
