A Year in Fundraising at TTCC

It’s been a busy year of fundraising for Ian McStay (aka “Dobs”), who is a stalwart and longstanding member of Thame Town Cricket Club.

After his original diagnosis of a serious cancer back in May 2022, followed by significant surgery and finally being given an almost-miraculous all-clear, Ian decided to raise funds for the charity Maggie’s Cancer Care, which had provided him with so much support. His target was to raise at least enough (£ 12,400) to keep their Oxford centre open for a week.

Over the course of the last year, Ian has succeeded in raising £16,000 from a number of activities, including the sharing of profits with TTCC from the club’s 6th Summer Ball on July 1st. The photo below shows Ian at Maggies Oxford facility ready to hand over the cheque.

More recently, on August 27th, the club’s picturesque ground at Church Meadow hosted another charity event, this time the annual match between teams from Thame and Chinnor, for the Dave Boyd-Leslie Memorial Trophy. The lead organiser in the club was Chris Penny and the proceeds of the day (£1,250) went, this year, to the Ronald MacDonald House charity, which provides accommodation for the parents & family of sick children who are in hospital away from home.

A huge well done to all who contributed!
