Message from The Chairman regarding the bar & Church Meadow

Hi All,

Whilst we are at Step 2 of the ECB plan for organised cricket, matches can be played but spectators are not permitted unless they are a parent, suitable adult or carer attending in a supervisory role for an U18 player or a player with a disability (maximum 1 adult per U18 player) or a club official/volunteer who is organising on and/or off-field activities.

As such the bar will not be open to members and spectators until 17th May at the earliest.

For this Saturday’s 1st XI home game we will trial a very limited bar, offering to players and officials ONLY involved in the fixture once the game is finished.

From w/c 17th MAY – all being well – we should be able to get back to opening and operating the bar as we did last summer with a one way system, signing in and drinking outside etc. If there are any changes to this then of course we will let everyone know.

Naturally, I am as keen as everyone to have a drink whilst watching a game at the Meadow but we must adhere to these instructions or run the risk of being put under special measures by the ECB and league.

Thanks for your adherence and patience in advance.

Matt Swain.

I understand the bar not being open but no spectators allowed? My reading of the ECB guidelines is that spectators are permitted in groups of upto 6 from Apr 12. Me and my dog easily within rules! So slightly perturbed by the signs you have up around the field saying NO SPECTATORS.
I have just spent an evening with 3 friends in the Thatch garden. Surely watching the cricket is ok? Thank you

Thank you for your message Terry! We agree that the rules appear to be strange and illogical in relation to other rules, but we can assure you that we are following ECB guidelines and we risk punishment for not doing so. Please click here , and scroll to the bottom right to see the current ECB rules on spectators which came in on April 12th. We hope to see you when we can soon!
